Cultural heritage - it´s also literature! Czech students discussed which writers, either novelists or poets, belong to Czech cultural heritage. Finally, they decided to focus on Czech poets from the end of 19th century, such as Viktor Dyk or Fráňa Šrámek. They studied their lives, works, influence. Having learned a lot, they used the knowledge to write articles, poems, to create book covers and to record an imaginary interview with one of the poets.

The music education section also took part in the Erasmus + KA2 project.

Together with the pupils of 2.BP, 3.CP and 4.CP, we recorded recordings of folk songs and dances on the topic of Cultural Heritage - Folk Song.

The short film was made during the month of June, when the students finally met at school after a long distance learning.

The aimof the project was to show the beauty of folk songs in our country, to inform about different types of songs, their origin, to show the melody and rhythm of Czech songs.

The students got involved with great enthusiasm. We recorded songs both solo and chorus, when the whole class got involved. We managed to record a folk dance of minets, which imitates a man's menuet.

It is clear from the video that the pupils of our school are very talented in singing and that today's young generation likes to sing folk songs.

Language day 2021 in Riga English Grammar school

800 million Europeans are encouraged to learn as many languages as possible in their lifetime, both in educational institutions and through self-study. The EU is convinced that multilingualism is a means of better intercultural understanding and is a key component of our territory's cultural heritage.

Since 2001, the European Day of Languages has been celebrated on 26 September each year at the initiative of the Council of Europe. This year for Language Day – anniversary! Riga English Grammar scool has friends in many European schools.

In the context of the European Day of Languages, students (Class 7) who have just started studying a subject in the curriculum carried out various practical tasks, getting to know the countries where friends of Erasmus+ projects live.

In them, students explored both the geographical aspects and linguistic characteristics of European countries. By carrying out tasks and working together in groups, students strengthened meaningful technology usage skills both in the acquisition of information and in the use of tools that are also useful in everyday life.

Interactive maps in civics lessons
Pupils from class 3 of the CP also took part in the Erasmus + KA2 - Cultural heritage project. In civics lessons, they created interactive maps in Google Earth in order to introduce foreign students to interesting places in our region. In groups of several, they created engaging interactive maps of Olomouc, Kroměříž, ProstÄ›jov and Otrokovice. Thanks to this, foreign students have the opportunity to see interesting places as if they saw them with their own eyes. For each stop on the map, they can then learn more about a specific place. Pupils of the 3rd CP also prepared a fun Kahoot quiz for students, thanks to which foreign students can check what they remembered while browsing the interactive map.
